    No. I am referring to how the FCC can FINE you for language. And courts uphold the fines.

    I am aware of Licenses. The issue is those were meant to keep one person from owning the airwaves. Not to keep off what they dont like.

    I meant that the FCC regulations does not have the power of law, but everyone follows it as if it were law because the FCC can refuse to give them a license for any reason they want. This includes profanity, nudity and other questionable content. It is not against the law to broadcast it. But if a FCC regulator is offended, they might as well close up shop.

    Hence why a lot of the better new shows are on Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, or Pay Cable. They have authority over the air and a little influence in Basic Cable. But they can not "make" HBO or the streamings do anything. Basic Cable's downfall was not fighting the FCC harder on the "we are not over the air, there is not a limited spectrum for us".
