    I looked into it, and the answer is most likely no, its not true. The word was not considered to be derogatory till the mid to late 1400's. Through a bunch of twists of meaning and obscure interpretations, it's possible to connect the word to quaint, which would lead to acquaintance, but this is not considered a valid definition. To even come close to making the claim in the image, you would need to translate through at least three languages and use the least accepted or most obscure meanings in every translation. In other words, it's probable a joke.
