How are the events in the recent weeks in Peru being reported worldwide??? Fortunately not too deadly or too bad, but still, we have a bizarre situation, which I would summarize as tens of thousands of rural people protesting, but it's not clear what they are protesting against or for, and/or they are making requests that are impossible to be complied.

There were articles about it in my local newspaper in Germany. Best wishes to Peru.

We've heard about protests and a lot of tourists being stuck (mostly up on that mountaintop temple thing), but not much about what's really going on or why.

    I hope you're safe.

Thanks, yes I am. Lima is a big city, and the protests are mainly in the historic center. I live in the North side.

Sorry I was thinking only about myself again :( Protests are in many cities in the South of the country, including our ancient Machu Picchu touristic complex. Only some protests are in our capital, Lima, where I live. Average people (like me) are not protesting. That's the bizarre thing, as it's not clear who is behind the protests.

Civil unrest is most unrestful to those who only want calm and peaceful discussions.
Hope it doesn't spill into your neighborhood!
