Bad relationship or family

    Why do people, specifically young women choose a bad relationship over family or their children?
    He’s mean, lazy, hatful and his family doesn’t like to deal with him. I’m so lost on what to do. I’ve been told to let it go but I can’t!

    Having learned this lesson the hard way: she likely loves potential (real or imagined), thinks she can fix/grow him, etc.

    As someone whose been in bad relationships all I can say is it’s complicated and there are plenty of reasons why someone stays. Some people feel they can fix the person. Some people feel it’s the best they can do and that this is what they deserve. Some people genuinely love the person they are with.

    I'm sorry, but it's about as impossible to know as it is to understand. The best thing you can do is be there, even if it's distant.
