    An item in the March 30, 1881 issue of the American humour magazine Puck entitled "Typographical Art" arrayed punctuation marks
    to create the facial expressions of "joy," "melancholy," "indifference," and "astonishment."

    This anonymous piece in Puck may have been the very first to turn typesetting marks into emotions.

    Two men walk into a bar. The first, having given up alcohol, says "Bartender I'll have a glass of H2O please."

    The second guy thinks to himself 'that sounds kind of fancy' so he says "Barkeep I'll have a glass of H2O too."

    I agree, and I hadn't seen that longer version of it. Great. The one I saw was in one of their movies, I think.
