Now that Iriomote cat has been proven to be a subspecies of Prionailurus bengalensis, you may go for the very similar P. bengalensis euptilura (Amur leopard cat), which is not an endangered species, and also hybridises easily with the domestic cat. Just like Bengal cat breed was derived from the nominate subspecies, P. bengalensis bengalensis, one could in principle do the same with P. b. euptilura, getting a much furrier and meaner-looking cat. I want one, too.

So a general biologist, zoologist, or activist...? I guess I could go that route, but a rose is a rose and a lily is a lily... to consider them as equal is not a rose to a lily... I know I messed up that quote, but I'm getting sleepy, so i'll deal with it later... But an Iriomote is an Iriomote and nothing else is it...
I don't want mean (or mean looking)... I want a chill kitty that can be a good and discerning guardian...

I can't post the sample video I want to use due to the rules, but if you Google/YouTube "Maya defends Sakaki", you'll see what I mean.

    hmm...

After a little bit of thought, I would seriously consider a cabbit... The closer it is the a Ryo-ohki or a Fuku, the better.

    I don't like cats.

So, if it's not a genetically modified, domesticated, anthropomorphic catgirl... I'm out.

Mine is one of those. And in fact, mine have always been 'one of those' but usually adopted from one of these :

The current exception is my wonderful cat from that upper group, who had wandered into a power generating station north of here. My wife had been Comptroller for their firm, and our son and I were getting a tour, subsequent to her far-too-early passing. He is still with me, and I got him in 2007.

And my take on types of breeds is that I think that we should consider becoming as selective in our choice of human company as we are when choosing our pets. Just saying. :)
