Any politicians who support legalizing prostitution?

I think it creates a safe environment for hobbyists and escorts. Also creates a taxable income stream for the government.

Politicians cannot afford to alienate too many voters. Legalization surely would.

No more or less than legalizing "pot". What about testing/tracking for STD's, AIDS or other diseases? What agency? Who pays for it? Who would cover the health care costs for sex workers? Unionized? Open shop or closed? Just some food for thought.

Check the laws in Nevada. Prostitution is legal and controlled there.

Nevada. Holland. A good portion of Europe. The model is there and well flushed.

Not in New York State. Then again all politicians are whores. Mostly in NY.

"Because I love you, I give you my body. Because you love me, you give me your money."

Did I just describe prostitution, or a lot of marriages?

To take per example divorced wife of Jeff Bezos - MacKenzie Bezos was getting $38 billion after divorce...

I'm sure she had to give him a blowjob once or twice for that. Not sure it was worth it.

A divorce settlement is really a different issue entirely.

My point is that people (of all sexes) have sex for many different reasons. Some are considered legal and some are not, and even that varies wildly between countries and cultures.

Why should sex in exchange for monetary compensation, which is possibly the simplest scenario of them all, be prohibited?

Having sex is legal. Earning money is legal. It is beyond comprehension how one could find a rational justification for a law that prohibits earning money for voluntary sex. It may not be my thing, but whatever floats other people's boat.

The question is who benefits from this restriction. Some might argue that women have an incentive to prevent men from getting easy access to sexual gratification so they don't have to "put out" so easily. There may be something to that. But I believe there is a more sinister and influential source: restricting access to sex makes men frustrated and motivated to do whatever it takes to change that. Like work hard, in the hope that increasing their money and status will allow them to attract women. But in a capitalist society the main beneficiary of your work isn't you, it's capital owners. Hence capital owners have a strong incentive to frustrate men sexually.

Conservative movements around the world serve the rich by imposing "conservative values". Whatever it takes to make little people feel miserable and insecure. The cruelty is the point. Reducing environmental regulations and poisoning children is just fine, "free markets" and all that. But don't dare enter a free transaction that makes the poor people on both sides of the transaction happy!

Even in those few places where prostitution is legalized, the business is inherently exploitative. Most of the quite substantial money paid for sexual services ends up in the pockets of the brothel owners, not the pockets of the prostitutes. If rich people won't get most of the bucks, it's not going to happen!

Makes you wonder whether prohibitions on incest have roots in economics, doesn't it?

Now that my wife is on ALL deed/titles/bank accounts, sex is non-existent. I guess I'm the ultimate "John".

I don't believe Prostitution was made illegal just to prevent people from having Sex for Money. I think it was made illegal because of criminal industry that promotes it. There are a lot of drugs, kidnapping, slavery, extortion, and other crimes. It was easier to make prostitution illegal and go after the prostitutes than to investigate the other crimes. And it would be hard to convict the pimps because they can claim the prostitutes just gave them the money.

Not to mention the moral aspect.

But the problem arises with control of VD or STD.

If you have a john who is infected, the iodine wash they use before sex only prevents a small portion of the STD transmission.

So with just one infected girl, way before detection is known, could infect 100's of johns.

My mortal enemy, then best friend, the drug dealer model. The real bosses only have $ handed to them.

True, but we also don't shut down chemical industry completely and declare it immoral just because it can conceivably have a bad health impact on a community. We use reasonable regulation to prevent unacceptable risks. Some countries allow prostitution but require frequent STD checks. Prostitutes may find that annoying, but most understand that it is for their own protection, too. Lets not forget that there are plenty of sex maniacs, both male and female, who behave irresponsibly even without getting paid. If we don't punish them, why punish prostitutes? Furthermore, Johns can protect themselves (and others), it's not just the prostitutes' responsibility. One John can infect 100's of prostitutes, too.

I am honestly on the fence on this one. I have never been able to make up my mind. Making prostitution legal has it's own set of challanges as mentioned in earlier posts. But I know this, punishing a out of luck single mother of perhaps 2 or 3 children trying to make a living and trying to take care of her children in perhaps the only way she knows and can, is just wrong.

I honestly don't know if legalizing prostitution is the answer. There are a lot of intelligent people in the world and I'm sure if they put their head together can come up with some sort of solution, perhaps some middle ground.

What does that have to do with my post that maybe fucking a sex doll instead of a prostitute would fulfill what a guy is after????????

Geez, I posted it as a joke (or maybe not-if it would work)!!
