    I guess "our English friends " have stopped gloating now they are out as well.
    They had the cup already on their mantel piece, hehehehehehehehe.
    They celebrated the demise of the Germans, all the while Karma sat giggling in a corner.

    This seems unusual to me that the World Cup was assigned to the conglomerant of Canada, United States and Mexico. I know that the United States has hosted the World Cup by itself, Mexico has hosted it and I guessing Canada has hosted it. Why combine three countries that have each hosted it by itself. I believe some ulterior motive is behind this.

    It may have to do with the tournament expanding from 32 to 48 teams in 2026.

    Mexico hosted the World Cup in 1970 and in 1986, the United States in 1994, and Canada has never hosted it. In 1970 the tournament had 16 teams and in 1986 and in 1994 24 teams. Hosting the World Cup with multiple countries makes it so much easier to provide stadiums, accomodations and other infrastructure which meet FIFA requirements.

    There is an ulterior motive in everything FIFA does.

    FYI, Canada has hosted the Women's World Cup, but not the men's.
