Heck Allison...our Football season is well underway....just had State-of-Origin Game 1, and in a couple of weeks we'll be having Game 2. Last week my Team (Broncos) thrashed Russell Crowes Team (Rabbitohs) 24 - 18!! I'm talking about NRL - not that other game where players get all trussed up in Tights and prance around like pansies that can't make up their minds......Ours players don't need all that padding.....

And then of course, there is our other "Footy" game over in Aoteoroa where that British Team has come down-under for lesson from the ALL BLACKS!!!!!!

I don't even put that in the same class with good old American football. None of the ones above would not make it one game without being put on the disabled list. ;):):D

Each week the song will be changed to reflect the 2 teams playing and there will be other performers joining him. I say welcome back, Bocephus! You are the best.

Allison, you don't understand. After the All Blacks win, they barbeque the losing team and eat them.

Yeppers! Give me Hank Jr, I feel the same way!
So, give me Hank Jr, anytime!

    ESPN is owned by ABC!
    The change was politically driven!

Hank Jr, had boosted the NFL ratings,
which last year was at their lowest ratings ever in the NFL's modern era!
Hank Jr, told the truth about Obama,
    calling him a Fascist Socialist!
    ~Political Correctness~
Means getting canned for telling the truth!
Hank Jr, said that he had quit even before they
    circulated their blatant lie,
that became the political media's background story!
(Perhaps, the social media, shouldn't ask for opinions!)
I would trust Hank Jr, over Obama,
    every single time!

I don't doubt that a bit,not so sure about dallas they have the talent if they can all get along. Then what can you say about Brady and the Patriots they are the beast of the AFC until someone proves me wrong and right now even this early I can't think of a team that can take them down. I think Atlanta will be the surprise of the season.

Alison, The All Blacks are the nickname of New Zealand's national rugby team due to their all black uniforms.

Yeppers, Australian Rules Football (ARF!) & RUGBY League) Those Blokes are born sturdy and they don't wear protective gear! "All Blacks" are the New Zealander franchise, and for your information, they're too tough to chew! ARF puts the NFL to shame when it comes to sheer toughness! ;)
They are not kidding when they say, "It takes Leather Balls to play Rugby!" or "Scrum Anyone?":eek:

It's great to hear that Hank Williams Jr will be back. I still think of his song whenever I watch football.
I'm ready for college football too. Roll Tide!

Now we just need to make sure they don't screw the game up by getting rid of the extra point or make it less of a contact sport.

The All Blacks didn't win 18 Internationals straight without being better than good!!!

But the Irish did manage to put a stop to them not too long ago - in Chicago of all places - at a demo game. But at least on home soil, in Eden Park, Auckland, the Irish have to date, NEVER beaten the 'Blacks in 100 years!!!

The Kiwis live and breath Rugby Union. It is a way of life to them. They have immense pride in their National Team.

    NZ AB Haka.jpg
    NZ Anthem.jpg
And a Kiwi would never think of wearing padding for a game of Football.
    Cheers Folks

In the movie "Necessary Roughness" there is a short scene where they are looking for football player. One guy wants to play without helmet or pads, he says "Under Australian rules the only people who wears pads are the refs and the spectators." After the play, the coach says "when he wakes up get him a uniform and pads" he had held on to the ball.

Over here, we have a team called the Ottawa RedBlacks, and nobody really seems to know how many of the poor suffering pc-types are offended by this. (But hey, we get away with having the Edmonton Eskimos, too ! :))
    RedBlacks.jpg
They are allegedly a professional football team - a label which does not immediately come to mind while watching them play, but it says so in the game-day program that they hand out.

And you gotta love those uniforms, eh. Like a bunch of random three-fingered guys, who just happened to be wearing the same monty-python issue clothing at the time, who just happened to run into each other at a bar and formed a team.

And the origin of the name ? Well, it's like this ... for many years, they were called the Rough Riders, which just happened to be the same name as the Saskatchewan team, except that they combine the two words into one. But phonetically speaking, this inevitably caused confusion amongst the announcers whenever the two of them played each other. Then one year, they just happened to remember that they had all been wearing the same coloured outfits when they first met ... and the rest is history.

Now, some of you may be wondering - what is the difference is between Canadian and Stateside football ? Well it's essentially the same idea, except that our playing field is larger (roughly the size of Prince Edward Island) and kinda like the fingers thing, we get only three tries to move the ball ten yards (sorry, I meant 9.144 metres, so I don't get a call from the Ottawa Feds) instead of four.

Oh, and another difference between our two games - we got bigger balls. :)
